Configuration

To use freephoneline service on a PAP2 telephone adapter you must make a single 50$ payment. Fees are to be paid by credit card, by telephone only.

The list of phone numbers to reach a freephoneline agent is available here: http://freephoneline.ca/contactUs

Once paid, there might be a 2 weeks delay before the information is available in your account details on freephonelone.ca. Once the settings are available, you will see a new tab, SIP settings. If you don't see the tab yet, don't worry, your SIP settings are simply not ready.

You therefore have only to configure your telephone adapter. If you have not already done so, you must:

  • Connect the PAP2 to your router via the supplied RJ45 cable.
  • Connect the phone to the PAP2 via the RJ11 cable provided.
  • Connect the PAP2 to the power supply provided.
  • Connect the power supply.

Now that it's done, you must retrieve the IP address of your PAP2. To do this:

  • Plug a phone into the Linksys PAP2 unit line 1 and enter **** it will prompt you for an option, type 110#. The unit will read back the private IP address of the Linksys router - write it down.

Once you recovered the PAP2 IP address, connect to the admin interface using your web browser to the address above recovered: http://{pap2p-ipaddress}/.

Click above on the "System" tab. Once the page, I you should enter a password for the administrator ("Admin password") and a password for the user ("User password"), in order to protect your PAP2. Then click the "Save Settings" button at the bottom of the page. Close your browser, restart it and reconnect to the admin interface: http://{pap2p-ipaddress}/admin/advanced/.

A dialog box should then ask you for a username and password: enter "admin" for username and give the password specified earlier, validate, and you arrive back on the administration interface.

Click on the "Provisioning" tab. Locate "Provision Enable" and set it to "NO". Then click the "Save Settings" button at the bottom of the page.

Click on the "Line 1" tab. Once the page is loaded, set the following options:

  • Line Enable: Yes

  • NAT Keep Alive Enable: Yes
  • Proxy: voip.freephoneline.ca
  • User ID: user specified in SIP Username
